OM: Azzedine Ounahi’s dream debut

Invited for the match against the Canaries, the former Angevin was a substitute at kick-off. But his entrance in the game was a success.
Tonight, Olympique de Marseille had a great card to play at the Beaujoire. Facing a FC Nantes that hasn’t been very exciting lately, the Phocéens had the opportunity to overtake RC Lens (temporarily) and to come back to two points behind Paris Saint-Germain in the standings, before the match of the Francilians in Montpellier. Igor Tudor’s men achieved their goal with a 2-0 victory at the Canaries. But tonight, we may talk more about Azzedine Ounahi.

The midfielder came on with 15 minutes to go in place of Alexis Sanchez and knew he was expected to play. Recruited this winter by OM (8 M€ + 2 M€ bonus) after an impressive World Cup with Morocco, the former Angevin played his first minutes under his new colors. A first one that will mark the spirits, thanks to a fabulous first goal for OM.

A crazy goal for his first
Marseille was leading 1-0, we were playing the stoppages of play when Ounahi came to martyr Girotto before crucifying Lafont. A decisive goal all in technique which will feed the beautiful promises displayed by the player in Qatar. Interviewed after the match, the player was delighted. “It’s my first start, after two minutes I scored, we had a great game. I am very happy. We had the control, we finished well, we leave with the three points. OM has the same game as me, I like when my team has control, we did it and at the end, we have three points, “he said at the microphone of Prime Video.

For his part, Igor Tudor did Tudor. When asked about the decisive entry of his recruit, the Croatian did not get carried away, even if he recognized the talent of his midfielder. “He needs time to adapt to this type of soccer because we come from a different style. He will need time, but he is talented. Everyone saw it on that goal.” No one will argue with the Marseille coach, but it’s a safe bet that the entire Orange Velodrome will want to see him in action this weekend against Nice.
