Cristiano Ronaldo had a thought for the former Tottenham player following his illness.
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a note for Denmark’s Christian Eriksen after the midfielder collapsed during a Euro 2020 clash between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen.
The Inter Milan player fell during the first half of Saturday night’s match and required extensive medical attention before being taken away on a stretcher. After Eriksen was taken to hospital, UEFA said he was in stable condition.
The Danish FA also confirmed that Eriksen was awake and undergoing further tests. The match was initially suspended before being resumed after a delay of over 90 minutes, with Finland winning 1-0. Cristiano Ronaldo took to social media and wrote a note in hopes that Eriksen would recover soon to be back on the field.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Christian Eriksen and his family. The soccer world stands together in hoping for good news. I look forward to seeing you back on the field soon, Chris! Stay strong!” the Juventus Turin striker posted on Instagram.
Inter Milan sporting director Giuseppe Marotta said Christian Eriksen reassured his partners by sending a message on their WhatsApp group.
“The players are very close and we immediately communicated with each other after seeing the images,” said Giuseppe Marotta, Inter’s sporting director, speaking to Rai. We didn’t want to be too invasive, we tried to respect his recovery once we were reassured.”
